Class of 1994
Andy was a two-sport standout for the Lions, earning seven varsity letters in football and baseball.
On the gridiron, he was a playmaking quarterback and defensive back. He broke the school record for passing yards in a game with 247, and in 1992 earned 1st Team All-OCC honors as a defensive back, followed by 1st Team All-OCC recognition at quarterback in 1993.
Andy was a four-year letterman on the diamond as a pitcher and outfielder. In 1994, he was named 1st Team All-OCC, 1st Team All-District, and Honorable Mention All-Ohio. That same season, he was co-Most Valuable Player of a team that won both the OCC and District Championships. He also set the school record for stolen bases in a season and earned recognition as a Columbus Dispatch Scholar Athlete.
Andy went on to Miami University, earning a degree in Elementary Education, and later a Master’s in Education from Nova Southeastern University. He has spent his career teaching and coaching, and today is a 5th Grade Teacher at Orchard Park Elementary in Kettering, Ohio.
He lives in Kettering with his wife Beth and their three children: Annie, Mary, and Nellie.
Coach
Gahanna Lincoln has been fortunate to have many outstanding coaches, and tonight, we add our sixteenth coach to the Hall of Fame. Coach Campolo is the winningest softball coach in Lincoln history.
Across his career at Newark and Gahanna, his teams posted 630 wins against only 271 losses—a remarkable .699 winning percentage. This ranks 4th all-time in career wins among Ohio high school softball coaches.
At Gahanna Lincoln, his teams captured 5 OCC Championships, 12 District Championships, 3 Regional Championships, and twice finished as State Runners-Up. Along the way, they also earned multiple District and Regional Runner-Up titles.
Coach Campolo’s impact reached far beyond the field. He was inducted into the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame and received the Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award from both the Central District and the State Fastpitch Coaches Associations. He also served as President of both organizations.
Jim lives in Heath, Ohio with his wife Barbara.
Class of 1978
Bryan was a true three-sport athlete, excelling in football, wrestling, and track and field, earning six varsity letters for the Lions.
On the football field, he starred at guard and tackle, earning numerous honors: Citizen Journal 1st Team All-Metro, Associated Press 1st Team All-District, Dispatch All-Prep Team, All-OCC Offensive Guard, and Honorable Mention All-Ohio. He was also named Gahanna Lincoln’s Offensive Lineman of the Year. Bryan was a key contributor to the Lions’ OCC Championships in 1975, 1976, and 1977, as well as the 1976 OHSAA AAA State Runner-Up team.
In track and field, Bryan specialized in the shot put and discus, earning All-State honors in the discus in 1978. His teams won the OCC Championship every year he competed.
After graduation, Bryan earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University and spent 30 years as an educator in Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools before retiring in 2015.
He also dedicated decades to coaching football, wrestling, and track, including 25 years coaching track at Middle School East and South.
Bryan lives in Westerville with his wife Leeann, and they have a grown daughter, Loghan Patricia Perry.
Class of 1995
Dan was a trailblazer in boys volleyball at Gahanna Lincoln, becoming the first athlete in program history to earn four varsity letters. Playing outside hitter and middle blocker, Dan earned All-Ohio recognition three consecutive years—a first for any Lincoln athlete.
He continued his volleyball career at Bowling Green State University, earning All-Conference honors as a sophomore and junior. In his senior year, he helped lead BGSU to an 8th-place ranking in the nation before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Dan graduated from Bowling Green with a degree in Education and later earned a Master’s in Health and Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler. His coaching career included stints at McNeese State, Northwestern State, and Panola Junior College in Texas, where he served as Head Coach.
Today, he is an Elementary Physical Education Coach and an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Houston Clear Lake. Dan and his wife, Holly, live in League City, Texas, with their son, Danny.
Class of 2005
Rachel was an exceptional softball player for the Lions, starting at second base for three of her four years. She was a two-time captain, two-time All-Ohio selection, two-time All-Metro first team, two-time All-OCC first team, and two-time All-Central District first team. She was named All-Metro Player of the Year and SNP Player of the Year, and earned a spot on the Central District All-Star Team.
At the time, Rachel set numerous school records, career marks for hits, doubles, and triples, and single-season records for batting average, hits, doubles, and triples.
An outstanding student, she was a four-time Academic Award of Distinction recipient, a member of the National Honor Society, and the Renaissance Leadership Team. She went on to earn degrees from both the University of Toledo and Ohio University.
Beyond the diamond, Rachel was also an elite BMX racer, ranked 5th in the nation as a senior and representing the United States as one of only two female riders at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Today, Rachel is an Acute Care Physical Therapist at Mt. Carmel East. She and her husband, Damian, live in Blacklick with their three children: Emilia, Damian, and Ariana.
Class of 1981
Mark participated in three sports while a student at Lincoln
(football, basketball, and baseball) earning six varsity letters.
Playing on the varsity basketball team, he received all Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) honors both his junior and senior years, culminating in a first-team selection in his senior year. He was also named to the All Central District second team and was chosen for the District 10 All-Star Team. He scored double figures in 39 straight games during his junior and senior years. During his senior year, he was elected Captain and was honored as the team’s Most Valuable Player. Mark was also an outstanding baseball player for the Lions, playing the infield at first and third base. He received All-OCC honors his senior year.
After high school, he served as an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper, earning the rank of sergeant. In 1988, he was honored as “Trooper of the Year”. He competed with the State Highway Patrol basketball and softball teams (1984-87). The basketball team won the National Championship in 1984.
Mark also served as Lincoln's assistant girls’ basketball team coach for 10 years. The team won six Central District and two Regional Runner-up titles during that time.
He is now retired and works as the property room manager for the Whitehall Police Department. Mark lives in Blacklick, Ohio, with his wife, Sarah. They have three grown daughters: Kaylee, Madison, and Gracie.
Class of 1996
Zane earned five varsity letters as a student at Lincoln, receiving four letters in wrestling and one in cross country. He was a two-time wrestling State qualifier, finishing his senior season in third place at the State Tournament. He was a USA Wrestling Junior
(18U) National freestyle All-American and Cadet (16U) National freestyle runner-up. His single-season and career take-down records continue to stand 28 years later. He was also an outstanding student, graduating as co-valedictorian of his class. He was a three-year starter and four-year letter winner for the United States Naval Academy’s NCAA Division One wrestling team, earning 80 wins. He was a two-time All-Academy champion and placed third and fifth in the EIWA conference in his final two seasons. He earned National Wrestling Coaches Association second team All-American honors and the Ed Perry Award, given to the Navy wrestler who demonstrates leadership. He graduated from Annapolis with distinction, earning a 3.9 GPA.
After graduating from the Naval Academy, he was selected to participate in the Naval Academy’s Officer Scholarship Program to earn his Master's Degree in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was also a graduate assistant wrestling coach.
Zane served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring in 2020 as Commander. While in service, he flew numerous combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Zane is currently the Customer Solutions Manager for Amazon Web Services. He resides in Falls Church, Virginia, with his wife, Bethany, and their children, Issac and Selah, where he coaches youth wrestling.
Class of 2003
Ashley earned six varsity letters in three sports (basketball, volleyball and softball) as a student at Lincoln. She was an excellent basketball and volleyball player, but her entry into the Hall of Fame is linked to her performance on the softball field.
One of the finest, if not the best catcher to ever play for the Lions’ softball team, Ashley lettered her sophomore, junior and senior years. Her sterling play was a major contributing factor for the team finishing as Runner-up in the 2003 State Softball Championship. All the while she was honored as an All-Star at all levels.
After high school, she attended Bowling Green State University, playing catcher, outfield and designated hitter for the Falcons. She lettered all four years and was once named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. She played on teams that had 133 wins and in 2007 recorded a 33-8 record becoming the winningest team in school history. Ashley graduated from Bowling Green with a B.S. in Sports Management and a minor in marketing.
Ashley resides in Phoenix, Arizona and works in medical device sales.
Class of 2010
Ryan lettered in two varsity sports as a student at Lincoln. He played basketball his freshman year, took two years off, then returned his senior year to be a key contributor to the team’s road to the Final Four while achieving a 26-1 record, the best in school history.
In 2009, the Lions won the State Championship in soccer in a penalty kick shootout. Without question, this would not have happened without Ryan Grimme at goalie. Notably, one of the best at his position in the State, he garnered the following recognitions:
Ryan played soccer all four years at Vassar College, earning all-league honors on a championship team. He graduated from Vassar in 2014 with a B.A. in Political Science and earned honors for his economics minor.
He resides in New York City with his fiancée, Kirstan, a Lincoln graduate who played on the women’s soccer team. Ryan is the Chief Operating Officer for Enstructure, an owner and operator of port infrastructure across the United States.
Coach
Gahanna Lincoln has been blessed with several outstanding coaches over the years. One of these special coaches is Mike Lanza.
Mike attended St. Francis DeSales High School, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and track and field. He received the Agonis Scholar Athlete Award for the Central District in 1975. He graduated from Capital University in 1979 with a B.A. degree. While at Capital, he played offensive line in football. He also received a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Dayton.
But tonight, he enters the Hall of Fame for his time as head football coach for the Lions. His football teams compiled a 90-49 record with multiple Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) titles and playoff appearances. This was when not as many teams qualified for the State playoffs as they do now. He was recognized as the OCC Coach of the Year, Central District Coach of the Year, and the Central District Coaches Association and Agonis Coach of the Year. As a fitting tribute to his character, he was given the Ethics and Integrity Award for the State of Ohio. Mike was inducted into the Central District Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame this past year.
Mike lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Annette. They have three grown children (Maria, Gina, and Angela) and seven grandchildren.
Hall of Fame Award of Merit
For thirty-eight years (1980-2008), Tom was a dedicated supporter of Gahanna Jefferson Schools. Whether as a teacher, administrator, or Director of Athletics for all three Gahanna Middle Schools, he served with excellence.
Tom graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Education and a Master's in Education from Xavier University.
He was a Central District Athletic Board member from 2010 to 2018. During that time, he was the Board President for two years. From 2012 to 2018, he was an Ohio High School Athletic Association Board member and chairperson. He was the Central Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association
(C.O.I.A.A.A.) Athletic Director of the Year for 2016. The next year, he was elected into the C.O.I.A.A.A. Hall of Fame. In 2019, he was elected into the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame.
He is currently the Executive Assistant for Member Service at the Brookside Country Club. He resides in Gahanna with his wife, Roxanne. They have two grown children (Scott and Kathryn) and four grandchildren.
